FEEDBACK
Week 5
- The tittle should be organised but can be a little bit messy too
- The headline needs to be attractive and eye catching to the readers but also readable
- Play around with different fonts.
- Text has to be aligned, an appropriate font and an appropriate size.
- Try to understand the information so that we are able to come up with good ideas and layouts.
- Make use of the space around
- The key part of the layout is the headline and make sure it is the first thing that catches the readers attention.
Week 6
- How we precent our work is a crucial part to our marks and will affect it a lot.
- Lack of alignment will make the design look cohesive and unattractive.
- Make sure you are able to explain your designs clearly
- Margins and columns are very important in typography.
- Do not use Bodoni as body text
- Do not use italics for long bodies in text.
Week 7
- Body text has to be consistent.
- Update feedback in google sheets.
- Only upload pdfs for final.
- Do not create layouts where there are no use.
- We have to understand the layout and formatting text because it is very important in design and typography.
REFLECTION
Experience
The sixth week represented the pinnacle of my journey thus far, during which I refined my typographic abilities and expanded my perspectives by investigating the myriad ways that typography is employed throughout different design fields. I became more and more appreciative of the art and science of typography with every week that went by, and I eagerly anticipated new challenges and personal development in the weeks to come.
Observations
I learned how crucial it is to align every element to provide a sense of solidity and structure while organising text and designing layouts. This alignment is very important, particularly when the hierarchy of information in layout design is the focus. Other than that i learned the importance of the presentation of your work which is very crucial.
Findings
I learned from this work that good layout creation requires precise alignment. Additionally, heads in the gutter should be avoided because printing may result in alignment issues. I also discovered that designing layouts is a difficult and intricate procedure.

fig 1.7 A Type Primer by John Kane
This book taught me that design is first and foremost the process of solving problems. It is said that graphic design is a specific kind of problem-solving that involves creating visual elements to effectively communicate ideas and thoughts. Typography is stressed as a crucial element of visual design since it deals with making the marks that make text visible. Stated differently, it concerns the use of text and fonts to convey information and messages visually.
The paragraph highlights how crucial it is to use type in graphic design. It suggests that typography plays a crucial role in the accomplishment of graphic design projects. The author highlights a gap in the current body of knowledge regarding typography education. They illustrate how difficult it is to find a text that adequately conveys typography's complexities to novices. It is argued that the existing manuals either focus more on experts than on beginners, or they lack sufficient examples.
By laying out the essential concepts and applications of typography in a straightforward and useful manner, the author seeks to bridge this knowledge gap. The book makes an effort to mimic a classroom environment and provide a flow of material that is appropriate for introductory courses.
